Control of the photon emission in a S.T.M. in air on oil-covered gold surfaces

Light emission in the Au/Au junction of a scanning tunneling microscope has been detected in air and the property of the control of emission yield has also been evidenced. Experimental results presented in this paper clearly show that this property can still be observed on mineral oil-covered gold surfaces.
